In a Non-Accepting World

It never gets better, does it?

This article is based on the earliest events. Some of them happened recently, others I have been carrying around with me for some time.

Examples and comments.

A friend, actually my best friend despite various opinions, sent me a picture via Whatsapp of Ralf Schumacher, who recently came out as gay. The picture showed him with the words “I used to worry a lot about someone driving in the back of me, but now it’s different.” That was meant to be contemptuously witty.

Constant side-swipes at work about the fact that nowadays everyone is allowed to be whoever and whatever they want. Recently, trans people, and trans women in particular, were also made fun of. It was about management positions and that the proportion of women should be higher, or that more women should be sought and hired. One colleague said that in Germany you can now change your gender once a year (on your ID) and then you can apply for a job as a woman.

These are two of countless examples from my life. There are nasty comments about LGBTQ and more once a month. Those who are “not affected” don’t even try to understand. And I maintain that we are talking about the vast majority of humanity.
